Google Buys Building in Meatpacking District

Looks like Google has dominated the search engine market and the real estate market. On Thursday, Google signed a contract to buy one of the largest office buildings in Manhattan according to a story reported by the New York Times.

At 2.9 million square feet, the $8.1 billion building has more space than the empire state building! The 15-story building at 111 Eighth Ave covers an entire block bound by 15th and 16th streets. The space currently houses Google’s East Coast headquarters and 1,800 employees, as well as Lifetime Entertainment, barnesandnoble.com, Nike USA and Deutsch advertising.
